• Kosmonaut DaviD plays... Compilation I - IV
Compilation I schreit Dÿse, Ned Rothenberg und Wolf Eyes!
Dÿse - Dÿse [Exile On Mainstream]
It was a carcrash. I drove through the city in my car – all instruments and stuff in the carboot and someone crushed into my car from behind. I just thought, shit, what an asshole. A guy with drumsticks in the hands went up and called me an asshole too. I saw the sticks and some broken drumstuff – he saw my broken guitarstuff. He asked me if I have to go to play a show. No, yet it was impossible. So he bought some new stuff for me and did the same. Instruments were not realy good but they work. So we met again at the point of the delivery and both of us checked the stuff. So in this moment we ´ve played the first stuff together and it was´nt that bad. From time to time we met each other to have some lessons and fun.
We found DYSE.
[dyse.info]
Ned Rothenberg- The Feel Clutch [Animul]
Rothenberg recently released a superb album, The Fell Clutch (Animul), with drummer Tony Buck (best known as a member of the Necks), electric bassist Stomu Takeishi, and a handful of cameos by slide guitarist Dave Tronzo. In a press release for the album, he refers to the group as “a kind of next-generation jam band,” but that description sells the music short. It’s all improvised, and even though the pieces are built from loose but hypnotic rhythmic schemes, there’s nothing aimless or indulgent about the performances, which reveal a stunning degree of interaction. The best pieces use short little stuttery phrases that coalesce neatly into transparent grooves, alternately choppy and fluid, the perfect setting for Rothenberg’s mesmerizing, interlocking phrases. Starkes Improvisitationsmanagement geisterhafter, schimmernder Soundskulpturen. Wolf Eyes - Time On Clearing [Gods Of Tundra]
Wolf Eyes began as a solo project of former Nautical Almanac member Nate Young, with Aaron Dilloway joining in 1999, and John Olson in 2000. During this time, the band also briefly relocated to New York City and at one point enlisted Andrew Wilkes-Krier, now known to the public as Andrew W.K. The group is rumored to have released over 150 recordings in their relatively short lifespan, on labels such as Bulb Records, Troubleman Unlimited, Fusetron, and Sub Pop, as well as on Olson’s American Tapes label, Dilloway’s Hanson Records and, most recently, Mike Connelly’s Gods of Tundra label. Connelly (also of Hair Police) replaced Dilloway on tour in early 2005, due to the latter’s departure for Nepal to make arrangements for his marriage, but Dilloway still records with the original members. Most Wolf Eyes recordings are self-released, following the DIY tradition of bands such as Smegma. Their first major release was Dread, released on the American Tapes and Hanson Records labels but distributed through Bulb Records. Other major releases include Dead Hills on Troubleman and Burned Mind on Sub Pop. Most Wolf Eyes recordings are released as either lathes, cassettes, or cd-rs.
